Harley-Davidson, confirms a production-ready electric motorcycle within 5 years.
Brace yourselves!

On one hand, Harley-Davidson is possibly the world’s most conservative motorcycle brand, on the other hand, they just confirmed they keep pushing on an electric motorcycle production.
And they’re gonna do it by 2021.
And they’re gonna do it by 2021.

Just two years ago, back in 2014 H-D showed the first electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle concept: the LiveWire.
The Motor Company didn’t just test the water. H-D invited worldwide customers to ride it and provide their feedbacks. Since then development never stopped and currently Sean Cummings (H-D Senior Vice President, Global Demand) declared to the Milwaukee Business Journal they will deliver an electric motorbike to the market within the next 5 years.
The styling could be different from the LivwWire even though it gained highly positive reviews. Designers will have to deal with batteries available in 2021 and even if electric vehicle technology is evolving rapidly, on the other hand the Mo.Co needs to double the LiveWire range (for the record in 2014 it was equal to 85 Km range per 74Hp)
Matt Levatich, President and Chief Operating Officer said “America at its best has always been about reinvention”.
H-D is unlikely trying to persuade its bar & shield loyalists customers to plugging. Not at all.
But getting (in parallel) the millennials attention is a vital challenge for every brand during the next few years.
A modern and cool project built on the centenary H-D heritage and core values could be a farsighted winning move.
